Magnum wines are very popular for a number of reasons. Firstly, the 1.5-liter format preserves wine quality for longer, as it contains twice as much liquid as a 75-cl bottle. What's more, bottle ageing is often better in magnums, as it occurs more slowly and evenly, allowing better integration of aromas and greater complexity of flavours. Magnums are generally used for great ageing wines, such as Bordeaux, Burgundy or Champagne, but are also available for more modest wines.
