Wines of the Southwest

The wines of southwest France are renowned for their diversity and excellence. It's a very rich terroir, encompassing several appellations d'origine contrôlée (AOC) such as Cahors, Madiran, Jurançon, Gaillac and Saint-Mont.

Southwestern red wines are generally full-bodied and tannic, with flavors of black fruit, spice and tobacco. White wines, on the other hand, are often fruity and fresh, with floral notes and aromas of apple, pear or peach.
